Scary Thoughts

I am reading a book titled “Tortured for Christ” by Reverend Richard Wurmbrand. He was a citizen of Romania during World War II and during the Communist takeover. It is an eye opening revelation of the horrors that he suffered under the tyrannical hands of both regimes. When Atheism became the state “religion” of the Nazis, then Communists, love, individuality, and hope that Christianity and the Bible provide is not tolerated.

When Communists took over Romania, they disbanded the Romanian police force and army by violence. Once in power, they skillfully seduced the church with a language of love and tolerance. Thousands of pastors were wooed to Communism because they had a lack of discernment of the word love. Many pastors joined the World Council of Churches and a secret underground church evolved in an effort to stay true to Christ’s teachings.

As the underground church grew, many pastors of Communist sanctioned churches became spies and informers for people in their own churches who were new converts or too “extreme” in their faith. After the infiltration of churches was complete, the Communists dropped their mask. Thousands of Christians were arrested, imprisonment and tortured.

The examples of the sadistic treatment of the men, women, and children described by Rev. Wurmbrand are too graphic to describe here. Without the absolute truth and morals of the Bible, man’s sadistic and evil side appeared. These torture methods were to make the Christians renounce Christ, get them to inform on other Christians, or break them physically and spiritually and accept Communism. Some of the torturers would cry out with joy on their faces, “We are the devil!” Once Christianity was removed there seemed to be no depths to the evil that can be found in men.

No one was safe from the fearful tyranny of Communism. The Communist Party confiscated homes and farms, making them communal property. Small businesses were also seized. The leaders of the government were not safe. They were undone and forced into prisons with people they’d imprisoned. There the officials endured the same atrocities as Christians. They were some of the political prisoners.

I share this because Socialism is the ugly stepchild of Communism. It’s being taught in America’s colleges, universities, and high schools. Our youth have been indoctrinated into believing that it is paradise on earth. They’re seduced as were the church pastors of Romania and deceived into embracing it as equality for all, not knowing the evil that lurks behind the false façade.

It is time for all Christians to stand up, defend our Constitution, our nation, and our religious freedom. It’s time to recognize the threat of Socialism before it destroys the liberties of America forever.
