More Than I was Expecting
Yesterday I thought I was going with my friend to drive her home if they medicated her for an MRI. I was mistaken. She wanted me to go with her to Morgantown, West Virginia while she had her knee checked. Several years ago she had that knee replaced. But because of problems she had to have it redone. This past summer while visiting her aunt in Sacramento, California she tripped and fell. That knee was very sore and needed to have it rechecked.
The leaves were beautiful on the drive down even though we drove through several short bursts of rain. Along the way we saw a dead coyote. I’d never seen one that had been killed along a road. My friend is great for taking photographs and was upset we’d not seen it sooner.
All went well at her visit. The radiographs turned showed no damage. The doctor said it would be sore for quite some time and advised her to rub lotion into the area until it was painful. I’m not sure of the reason, but he’s a sports injury specialist and joint replacement expert. In the waiting area I passed out a few of my blog’s business cards while I waited.
We ate lunch at Wendy’s. I knew my friend was thinking about something and when we got into her truck, we headed back toward West Virginia. The thought of the coyote was on her mind. After she got her pictures we headed home. I knew the fire in my wood burner would be out. I decided to make a grocery run rather than to return home. While in line at Wal-Mart the lady behind me was talking to the cashier and said her mother had just died. I was able to give her a “Comfort” tract and condolences.
I just walked into my house putting away things that needed refrigerated when another friend messaged me saying she had extra brine. She knew I was going to can some pepper mix. I put on my shoes and drove to her house to get the brine. While I was there she gave me some mild peppers and onions. I’d already cut up the hot peppers and mild peppers, but decided to add green tomatoes and onions as an end-of-garden harvest treat. I cut up the green tomatoes and onions while the brine and water heated to cold pack them. My total was eight quarts and four pints. I also cold packed one quart of onions. The brine is slightly sweet. I thought the pickled onions might make a nice low calorie snack.
