Hitting the Reset Button
Our church completed a labor of love for Bearing Precious Seed. It is an outreach ministry of Seedline whose purpose is to print, assemble, and dispense the Gospel in different languages. Their passion is to provide printed copies of the New Testament, copies of the books of John and Romans, and the entire Bible for missionaries to distribute in their countries as an outreach to the lost where their mission is located.
This is the sixth year we’ve helped; three sessions each year. Each time we’ve gained more people to make the assembling task easier. This time our church completed 14,000 copies of John and Romans. They will be distributed in the United States as an attempt to establish a church in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Many times these booklets of the Gospel are used to reach out into the communities, not only to share the Good News of Christ, but to establish a core of Christians who want to hear more about the Savior.
The project manager Dan Gill and his wife Kelly bring the unassembled material and the machinery necessary to complete the task. Unloading, setting up, and then reloading become a flurry of activity interspaced with an assembly line approach to produce the finished books. Most of the tasks allow the workers to sit and complete their section.
Dan Gill spoke at the Sunday morning service at church. His subject was “Rain and Snow” explaining that Jesus is the Word of God and how the Gospel parallels the physical effect of snow and rain in the natural world and how the Word of God does the same in our spiritual lives. He used Isaiah 55:10-11 as Scripture for his sermon.
Rain satisfies our thirst, causes things to grow, and cleanses dust and dirt from our bodies. God’s Word is the same. It satisfies our deep desire for Him, causes us to grow in our understanding, and cleans us from sin in our daily lives. Snow acts like an insulation from the cold and Scripture insulates us from the evils, fear, and pain from the world.
Dan says that the recent panic of the virus caused their printing facility to close for several weeks and the planned projects were limited, but the unexpected pause in their breakneck schedule at first was looked upon as something unwanted. Now, looking back, it was as if God planned the hiatus to reset their lives and grow closer to Him.
The last thing mentioned in his text is that the Gospel we send out shall prosper, for God says that His word shall not return unto Him void, but shall accomplish that which He pleases.
